frequently asked questions

Q: What is the typical investment for a handcrafted Marley Guitar?

The investment for a custom handcrafted Marley Guitar usually starts at $3,500 and can range upwards to around $8,000. The range depends on materials, body style, and options, among other factors.

For example, an OM510 – a Tier one model with a Traditional body – might have sides and back made from Sapele, a relatively inexpensive and readily available tone wood. Its price to the consumer is $3,500. An OM830 – a Tier 3 cut-a-way model with arm bevel – might have sides and back made from Hawaiian Koa, a more expensive tone-wood to source than Sapele, and a model with an increased build time due to the cut-a-way and the arm bevel.

Marley builds custom acoustic guitars by hand using only the finest tone woods legally available.

Q: How long does it take to place a custom order?

The lead time for new orders can vary depending on the wood combination, features, and existing backlog of orders. Most standard models can be delivered within 3-4 months. If you are considering placing a custom order, we will provide you with a price quote and time frame for delivery.

Q: Do you require a deposit?

Yes, we require a deposit of $500. This deposit does two things. It assures me of your commitment, and reserves your place on my schedule.

Final payment is due at the time of delivery.

Q: Does your price include a case?

Yes. All build prices for a custom acoustic guitar include a case.

Q: Does your guitars come with a warranty?

Marley Guitars are covered by a limited warranty to the original purchaser of the guitar and is non-transferable.  This warranty covers defective workmanship and defective materials.  Marley Guitars does not cover damage due to normal wear, alterations, misuse, or damage incurred by extreme changes in temperature and humidity.

Q: What types of woods do you use?

At Marley Guitar we use both domestic and exotic (CITES-compliant) tone woods, such as Honduran Mahogany, American Cherry, Black Walnut, Indian Rosewood, Pau Ferro, Western Cedar, and Adirondack Spruce.
